Statement

"I would like to paint the way a bird sings."

-- Claude Monet

For me the act of painting is a joyful one-- a great love in fact. The simple act of mark-making onto blank canvas and creating an image that has never existed is of special significance, since to me, a canvas represents the possibility of entering time in a new way and leaving a history of myself and the world there.

Personally speaking, the canvas is also an ethereal place in two dimensions. I am thrilled each moment that I have to enter this special space--on the canvas and into myself. My paintings come from the very center of my being and I am grateful that my patrons find them as beautiful as I do.

I was born in China, educated in Canada and New York and eventually lived and painted in New York. I believe that my paintings ultimately reflect my unique international journey.

I have learned that expressing myself boldly at this point in my life--forceful brushstrokes, expressive color and dynamic energy--best represents that journey. I revel in this robust style. My goal is to continue to immerse myself in this process and the experience of painting since it is so very natural and central to being alive.
